The Poem

Learning to forgive

Learning to forgive

Learning to forgive In quiet of day

Exile in locked rooms

For lies one did not say

Those who set forests afire

Soothsayers going off the mark

Layers of my innocence

Peeled in the dark

Learning to forgive Poems

lost to blase ears

Before my searching eyes

The meteor disappears

The books missing pages

Letters I thought came for me

I cicle melting in hot palm

A forgotten melody

Learning to forgive

In the quiet of day

Hands that held my infant form

Turned forever from me, away.
