The Poem

Strange

Strange

Strange,

Isn't it ?

The twin urges

To remember

To forget?

Chasing each other

Like the hands of clocks?'

To remember the dazzling day

Forget the stygian night

Remember the feast

Forget the hunger

Remember the praise

Forget the blame

Remember the kisses

Forget the heartbreak

Remember palaces, kings

Forget ghettoes, the dispossessed

Remember the bird’s flight

Forget the leaden cage

Remember the promises

Forget the betrayal

And at the end of it all

The confusion of memory

Should one remember to forget

Or forget to remember?
